About Us

"The truth is, we learned and practiced our way into most of our unhealthy behaviors by what we saw, heard and experienced growing up. The good news, however, is we can learn our way out. We just needed some help."

Rob & Roxanne Maroney

Relationships get stuck. We know … we’ve been there. At the 25-year mark in our marriage, many years in full-time Christian ministry, 3 grown children and several grandchildren, our relationship was stuck.

After 9 counselors, we made a decision to get serious about learning new “habits of the heart” and break free of our unhealthy patterns. This would not have happened without the help and support of caring, courageous, compassionate, and wise mentors in our lives … and it doesn’t happen without effort.

The truth is, we learned and practiced our way into most of our unhealthy behaviors by what we saw, heard and experienced growing up. The good news, however, is we can learn our way out. We just needed some help.

Even in the most troubled relationships, we know change is possible. It happened for us, and it can happen for you. That’s why we’re passionate about helping you break free of the unhealthy patterns that are keeping you stuck.

If you would like to talk about how we can help you, please contact us to schedule an introductory meeting. We would love to meet you.

Roxanne Maroney

I have worked with couples and individuals as a Counselor and Life Coach for over 20 years and my passion is to increase awareness and understanding, as well as provide practical tools for life change.

This can be a challenging venture, because our patterns of self-protection, triggers and lack of awareness disrupt this process and often require the help of someone trained to look beyond the external problems, with a view to what’s happening internally at the heart level.

My background and training in Coaching and Soul Care comes from the School of Spiritual Direction through New Way Ministries, as well as certification as a Biblical Counselor through AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors) as well as majoring in Psychology at California Southern University.  My counseling approach has been formed by many years of experience working with individuals and couples with their early histories in mind, as well as helping them with tools for conflict resolution and listening skills.  I am not a licensed psychotherapist or mental health professional; therefore, I will offer referrals to those areas of expertise if I believe an individual’s problems are outside the scope of my specialty or abilities.

I welcome the opportunity to come alongside you and to be used by God as He helps you grow toward greater emotional and spiritual maturity. If you have any questions about Coaching or Soul Care please contact me, I would be glad to arrange an initial consultation.

My journey has been everything but a straight line. As a newly-wed couple we moved a lot, living coast to coast throughout the U.S. and two years in Canada. Working with an international Christian organization for over 12 years, we had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, China, South Korea, and the Philippines. We eventually left full-time ministry work, but these transitions were difficult for me. I changed jobs 7 times and relocated my family over 10 times in 15 years, eventually settling back in Southern California.

For 25 years I managed Human Resources for large North American companies, learning a lot about relationships by observing people in the workplace. I discovered there are great similarities between relationships at work and how people relate outside of work – primarily in their families. This fueled my passion to help individuals and couples recognize and change the disruptive patterns that get in the way of experiencing healthy relationships.

I have a Masters Degree in Psychology, Professional Life Coaching Certification, Advanced Diplomas in Biblical Counseling, Christian Life Coaching, and Gottman Therapist Training. I’m also a certified facilitator for a comprehensive marriage assessment tool, called SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts).

I worked for many years as Director of Operations and board member with Relationship 180, a nonprofit counseling and teaching ministry in Orange County. Roxanne and I also spent 10 years facilitating a monthly marriage intensive program called Relationship Lifeline (https://relationshiplifeline.org).

After over 4 decades of marriage, 3 grown children, 13 grandchildren, and a dozen years in Christian ministry we have seen a lot, and have our own story of rupture, repair and recovery.

I understand the stress, pressures and challenges of sustaining a healthy marriage, keeping life and work in balance, and I welcome the chance to talk with you.
